Lead

A society, not a spreadsheet

Your people are not faceless units. They follow you for exactly as long as they trust your judgment — meet their needs, carry them through crises, and keep that trust alive. Lose it, and you can be overthrown.

And every reign ends. Raise successors worth following and pass power on, so that what you started survives you by generations.

Explore

An uncharted continent

Choose the continent where your story unfolds — each with its own landscapes, climate, resources and neighbors. Then send your people beyond the fog: reveal the map, find food and raw materials, and decide where to put down roots.

You are not the only one who wants this land. Sooner or later, you will learn who else lays claim to it.

Craft

An economy you can touch

Nothing in Stone to Stars is an abstract number. Every log, hide and tool is a physical item that someone gathered, processed, carried and stored.

Hunt wildlife, process what you bring home, and turn raw materials into tools, weapons, clothing and supplies — then get them to the people who need them.

Build

From one campfire to a state

Begin with a fire and a handful of shelters. End with homes, workshops, storehouses, farmland and roads — a settlement that works like a machine, because you built every gear of it.

Assign workers, organize logistics, design production chains. Resources don’t move on their own, and every decision has consequences.

Research

Knowledge opens eras

A branching technology tree turns your people’s accumulated knowledge into new materials, crafts, buildings and ways to organize society.

Lead the tribe from its first stone tools into new eras — every discovery reshapes daily life and opens paths that weren’t there before.

Trade or fight

You are not alone

Other settlements share your continent — autonomous societies that grow, explore and pursue goals of their own, whether you watch them or not.

Exchange goods and keep the peace, or press, defend and go to war. Relationships are built from actions: today’s trading partner can become tomorrow’s enemy.

The final trial

Ready or not, it is coming

Hidden in every playthrough is an inevitable trial that will demand everything your civilization has built — knowledge, stockpiles, production chains, allies, and the weight of every choice your dynasty has made.

Prepare well, and your people’s story may outlast the world they know. Prepare poorly, and they vanish alongside all the rest.
